How do people summon up this day?
The
Day of Remembrance for all Victims of Chemical Warfare agrees on the general
public the prospect to pay acknowledgment to the sufferers of chemical warfare.
It allows governments and organizations to pledge or reaffirm their assurance
to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), an
organization that aims to end the intimidation of chemical weapons and promote
peace and security globally.
Society:
The Day of Remembrance for all Victims of Chemical Warfare is just a UN
observance and it is not a public holiday.
Background:
In November 2005, the UN decided to observe a memorial on April 29 each year
“Day of Remembrance for all Victims of Chemical Warfare”. The date was
preferred for this observance for the reason that it was when the Chemical
Weapons Convention came into force.
