Soon after arriving in Kaliar Sharif, he went to the grand mosque to offer his prayers. Clad a religious mendicant's attire, and accompanied by his disciples, he sat in the front row, where the city administrator and the Qazi (magistrate or judge of a Sharia court) also used to have their seats.

This infuriated the two-state functionaries, and they made him and his disciples vacate their seats in a gale of contempt and abuse. He came out of the mosque and looking towards it, and said, “And you have allowed such people to go scot-free.” As he spoke the mosque collapsed with a bang killing under the rubble those who had ousted him from his seats.

In the days of Sultan Mohammad's Ghori’s conquests, he was born in Herat (Afghanistan). His lineage, through his father, Syed Abdur Rahim goes back to Ghaus-ul-Azam Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani.

His mother was the sister of Baba Fariduddin Gunj Shakar. His father died when he was only five years old, and he was brought up by his maternal uncle, Baba Fariduddin Gunj Shakar.

He received his education and training under him and it was he whose disciple he became and from him, he also received lieutenancy and permission to make disciples.

Tradition is that after becoming a disciple, he remained shut up in his closet for a full two years, came out of it not even once, and worshipped and prayed all the time. The closet is still extant in Pakpatan and it is said that it is not possible for everybody to remain inside it. 

According to records, after bestowing the robe of lieutenancy, Baba Fariduddin Gunj Shakar also gave Kaliar Sharif under his spiritual charge, to which city he returned and spent all his life worshipping Allah and serving humanity.

The process of guidance and education begun by him at Kaliar Sharif expanded vastly. He was an embodiment of planned living and humility.

His spiritual guide, Baba Fariduddin Gunj Shakar, loved him immensely.

آپؒ جب کلیرشریف آئے تو ایک دن جامع مسجد میں فقیرانہ لباس پہنے اپنے مریدوں کے ساتھ پہلی صف میں بیٹھ گئے۔

 پہلی صف میں رئیسِ شہر اور قاضیِ شہر بیٹھے تھے. انہوں نے جو آپ کو فقیرانہ لباس پہنے دیکھا تو نفرت و حقارت سے آپ کو اور آپ کے مریدوں کو اٹھا دیا اور بُرا بھلا بھی کہا۔ 

آپ اٹھ کرمسجد سے باہر آگئے، پھر مسجد کی طرف مخاطب ہوکر فرمایا: "تو نے ان لوگوں کو صحیح سلامت چھوڑ دیا" یہ کہنا تھا کہ مسجد ایک دھماکے کے ساتھ زمین بوس ہوگئی اور جنہوں نے آپؒ کو اٹھایا تھا وہ دب کر مر گئے۔

 سُلطان مُحمد غوری کی فتوحات کے دُور میں آپؒ ہرات میں پیدا ہوئے۔ سلسلۂ نسب والد محترم شاہ عبدالرحیم کے حوالہ سے غوث الاعظم سّید عبدالقادر جیلانیؒ سے ملتا ہے۔ آپ کی والدہ محترمہ فرید الدّین گنج شکرؒ کی ہمشیرہ تھیں۔ پانچ برس کی عمر تھی کے والدِ محترم وفات پا گئے۔ آپؒ کی پرورش آپؒ کے ماموں حضرت فرید الدّین گنج شکرؒ نے فرمائی۔

 انہی کے زیرِ ساایہ آپ نے تعلیم و تربیت حاصل کی اور انہی سے بیعت ہوکر اجازت و خلافت حاصل کی۔ روایت ہے کہ مرید ہونے کے بعد دو برس تک آپ حجرے میں مصروفِ عبادت رہے اور قدم باہر نہ نکالا. یہ حجرہ اب بھی پاکپتن شریف میں موجود ہے اور کہا جاتا ہے اس حجرے میں قیام کرنا ہر ایک کیلئے ممکن نہیں ہے. کتابوں میں لکھا ہے کہ خرقهٔ خلافت عطا کرنے کے بعد حضرت بابا گنج شکرؒ نے آپؒ کو کلیر شریف کی ولایت بھی عطا کی۔

 چنانچہ آپ کلیر تشریف لے گئے اور پھر وہی ساری زندگی اللہ کی عبادت اور خدمتِ خلقُ اللہ کی خدمت کرتے رہے۔ کلیرشریف سے آپ نے رشدُ و ہدایت کا جو سلسلہ شروع کیا تھا، اس کا فیض عام ہوتا چلا گیا. آپ کی زندگی سادگی اور عجز کا پیکر تھی. آپ کے مُرشِد خاص بابا فرید الدّین گنج شکرؒ آپؒ سے بہت محبت فرماتے تھے۔

آپ کا مزار مبارک کلیر کاری شریف بھارت میں واقع ہے۔
