Summary of Quran Chapter 31 Luqman Surah Luqman

Summary of Quran Chapter 31 Luqman Surah Luqman

This Surah (Chapter) was also revealed in the period of the city of Makkah, when the opposition of the Meccan infidels regarding Prophet Mohammad and the Qur’an was at its peak, and the chiefs of the infidels were trying to stop the spread of Islam through pretexts and violent acts. When the effective style of the Holy Qur'an affected the hearts of the people, they tried to divert their attention from it by confusing them with anecdotes and poetry.

luqman

Which is mentioned at the beginning of this surah (verse 6)? Hazrat Luqman was famous as a wise and intellectual among Arabs. Arabs gave great weight to his wise words; even poets have mentioned him as a sage in their poems. The Holy Qur'an has made it clear in the surah that sages and intellectuals like Luqman, whose intellect and wisdom you believe to be iron, were also convinced of monotheism.

He called it a great injustice to associate anyone with Allah. He had made a will to his son that you should never commit shirk. In this regard, this surah has mentioned much other valuable advice of his, which he gave to his son. On the other hand, the condition of the polytheists of Makkah was that they used to exhort their children to monotheism and good deeds, but they forced them to commit polytheism, and if any of their children became Muslims, they used to pressure them to He should adopt polytheism again.

Accordingly, among the pieces of advice of Hazrat Luqman, in verses (14 and 15) of this Surah (Chapter), Allah once again stated the principle, which has also been mentioned in Surah Al-Ankabut [The Spider] (29:8) that respect and obedience to parents is in its place. However, if they pressure their children to accept Shirk (join a partner in worship with Allah Almighty), then it is not permissible to accept what they say. Apart from this, this surah contains arguments for monotheism and effective articles of reminder of the Hereafter.
