Which devices is WhatsApp going to end support for?
WhatsApp has announced that it will end support for the app on older versions of Android. According to an announcement from a sub-platform, from September 8, 2026, the app will stop working on devices running Android 5.0 and Android 5.1.
To keep WhatsApp active, Android version 6.0 has been set as the minimum requirement. Users are being given time to update their phones or upgrade to a new device.
According to a WhatsApp statement, starting September 2026, WhatsApp will only support Android 6.0 or newer versions, and support for older versions will end.
A post also shared a screenshot stating: "WhatsApp will not work on these devices later this year."
According to these instructions, users who continue using older versions will not be able to send or receive messages after September 8.
