The theme of World Population Day 2020
According
to UNFPA, this year's world population day 2020 theme will focus on- Putting
the breaks on COVID-19: how to safeguard the health and rights of women and
girls now.
History
Commencement of World Population Day
In
1989, the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Program recommended
that World Population Day be observed annually in the context of raising
awareness of the problems posed by the world's rapidly growing population and
addressing these issues in development projects. The council also recommended
that July 11 be observed as World Population Day.
Problems of overpopulation
In
terms of population, China and India are the two largest countries in the
world. The two countries have a population of over one billion and account for
37% of the world's population.
In
today's modern age, the study of population and its problems and difficulties
is an interesting and preferred subject that provides awareness about human
needs. It helps to find different means of meeting human needs amidst a growing
population and dwindling resources. The population is usually known by the census.
Which includes all those who live within a geographical area.
According
to experts, with the growing population, climate change, food, infrastructure,
and other issues urgently need to be addressed.
Development
is a holistic process that includes all the important factors of human life
i.e. mental, physical, spiritual, social, and economic problems, etc. But in
the modern world, it is assumed that human development depends only on the
factors that can be quantitatively measured. Historically, the global population
growth has been at the forefront of the various factors that have had a
profound and far-reaching impact on the world since World War II.
Population rate in Pakistan:
Pakistan's
population is also growing rapidly. According to population experts, the rate
of population growth in Pakistan has reached a point that is termed as 'high
risk'. Today,
World Population Day is being celebrated all over the world, including
Pakistan. This year is the theme of this day. The world's population exceeded
seven billion in 2011. While the world's large population is a global challenge,
it also has opportunities for a sustainable future, better services, access to
medical care, and youth empowerment.
Lack of planning
Planning
plays an important role in the development and prosperity of any institution,
nation, or country, so there is nothing wrong with calling planning the
backbone. Because countries, institutions, or nations lack planning. Not only
do they lag far behind, but they also lose their very existence, and unlike
those who prepare and plan for the times and challenges to come, success
becomes their destiny.
The solution to overpopulation
What
is the solution to the problem of a growing population?
This
means that space will be a problem and it will also affect the environment. For
example, an increase in the urban population could eliminate green areas, while
more energy consumption would increase air pollution. One
solution to avoid this crowd is to build more vertical cities in which
residents will live and work in buildings that can be raised as high as possible.
Proponents
of this idea say. The solution is to create a 'high rise' design, in which
high-density housing is built and space is sacrificed. Tall buildings and small
apartments can provide more green space for city dwellers. And small spaces can
save electricity and heating, making them cheaper and more environmentally
friendly.
Conclusion:
Today,
on the occasion of World Population Day, these few figures should be a moment
of reflection for all walks of life, ie social, economic, communal, and
political circles. How they can join the race for economic growth at the
national and international levels by taking direct steps to reduce the rate of
growth to achieve the basic and material necessities of economic life. Working
for national development is not the sole responsibility of the government.
Rather, it requires the cooperation of both the people and the government.
Islam
urges Muslim societies and global societies as well to strive at making well-organized
use of their endowed resources by obtaining the most developed science as well
as a technology base. For now, Muslim societies are urged to maintain their
eligibility for Allah Almighty blessings through a steady faith and fear of
Allah is a prerequisite for success.
The Holy Quran:
And no
moving (living) creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah.
And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterus, grave). All is
in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh-Al-Mahfuz-The Book of Decrees with Allah). [Hud,
verse,6].
And if
the people of the towns had believed and had the Taqwa (piety), certainly, We
should have opened for them a blessing from the heaven and the earth, but they
denied (the Messengers). So We took them (with punishment) for what they used
to earn (polytheism and crimes). [Al-A’raf, verse, 96].
