Mian Mir Lahori Punjab Lahore Pakistan
(May Allah Have Mercy on Him)
Birth: 938 A.H, (1531 A.D.) Death: 1045 A.H, (1635 A.D.)
Emperor Shah Jahan, once, visited him and requested him
to pray for the health of Prince Dara Shikoh. He prayed and the prince got
well.
Hazrat (Honorable) Mian Mir Lahori was born in Sehwan, an
ancient town in Sindh (Pakistan). He belonged to a family of Qazis (Judges). His
lineage reached up to Hazrat Umer Farooq (May Allah be pleased with him), a
second Caliph of an Islamic state.
He completed the acquisition of exoteric knowledge at
Lahore and then became a disciple of Hazrat Khizr Sewastani, who lived on a hill
at some distance from Sehwan.
At the age of 25, he came back to Lahore and began
praying, doing religious exercises, and preaching and guiding. His whole life
was steeped in the practices of (Sunnah) of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (peace be
upon him), and he never did anything which contravened his sayings and
commands.
He was politeness personified. His life was an embodiment
of simplicity. He was greatly respected by the ordinary people as well at the
royal court. Emperor Jahangir was his great devotee.
Emperor Shahjahan, who visited him twice, was advised by
him that it was incumbent upon just kings to take care of the country as well
as the ruled. Prince Dar Shikoh, in his book “Sakinat-ul-Auliya”, has given
details about him as well as his lieutenants.
His tomb, shrine is situated in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan,
is visited by the populace.
