This is the Surah Al-Ma’arij Meccan Quranic Chapter, it has forty-four verses and two sections.
Surah al-Ma’arij is the first surah of the second sub-group consisting of three surahs. The first two surahs in this group namely Surah al-Ma'arij and Surah Nuh are in the form of couplets. While the third surah i.e., Surah al-Jinn is unique.
The surah Al-Ma’arij passage describes the inevitability and severity of Judgment Day. It warns about the impending punishment for those who turn away from truth and accumulate wealth selfishly.
On that day, people will seek to ransom themselves from torment using everything they hold dear, but to no avail. The righteous, however, are described as those who pray regularly, fulfill their obligations, protect their chastity, and honor their commitments.
They will be rewarded with gardens of honor. The text contrasts the attitudes of those who disbelieve and mock the message, implying that they will face humiliation when they are resurrected on the promised Day of Judgment.
