Summary of the Quran Chapter 90 Surah Al-Balad The City

Surah Al-Balad (Chapter 90, Surah Al-Balad Chapter: 90 Total Verses: 20) highlights the struggles of human life, urging individuals to choose the righteous path despite challenges. It emphasizes gratitude for Allah's blessings, encourages acts of kindness like freeing slaves and helping the needy, and contrasts the reward of the righteous with the punishment of those who reject faith and goodness.

Surah Al-Balad begins with Allah swearing by the sacred city of Makkah and mentioning the noble status of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) dwelling in it. It reflects on the reality of human existence, emphasizing that mankind was created to face challenges and toil. Despite their struggles, humans are reminded not to become arrogant or wasteful, thinking their actions go unnoticed by Allah.

The verses highlight Allah's blessings, such as sight, speech, and guidance toward the paths of good and evil. It encourages choosing the harder, righteous path—freeing slaves, feeding the hungry, helping orphans, and supporting the destitute. These deeds, combined with faith, patience, and mercy, lead to salvation and being among the righteous, the people of the right. In contrast, those who reject faith and good deeds are condemned to eternal punishment in the fire, sealed away from any relief.

Conclusion

Surah Al-Balad teaches us that life is a test of perseverance and moral choices. True success lies in faith, kindness, and selflessness. Those who embrace these values will attain Allah's mercy, while those who reject them will face His justice. It is a reminder to strive for the steep path of righteousness, no matter how challenging.
