How to Fix Google AdSense Linking Issue in Google Analytics

If you're facing issues linking Google AdSense with Google Analytics, here are the steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Ensure You're Using the Right Google Analytics Property

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is the recommended property to link with AdSense. If you're trying to link an older Universal Analytics (UA) property, it may not work.
  • Double-check that your GA4 property is correctly set up. If you’re using Universal Analytics (UA), consider upgrading to GA4.

Check Permissions

  • You need Admin-level access to both AdSense and Google Analytics accounts to successfully link them.
  • Verify that the Google account you're using has the necessary permissions:
  • In Google Analytics, make sure you're an Administrator.
  • In Google AdSense, ensure you have full access rights.

Verify the Same Google Account

  • Ensure that the same Google account is being used for both AdSense and Google Analytics. If you’re logged into different accounts, linking will fail.
  • If needed, you can grant access to the same account across both platforms.

Check if the AdSense Code is Properly Implemented

  • Make sure that the AdSense code is properly implemented on your blog. Without the code, Analytics won't be able to collect data from your AdSense ads.
  • Log in to AdSense, copy your AdSense code, and verify that it's properly installed in the HTML of your blog (especially in the <head> section for the Blogger platform).

Use Only One Google Analytics Property

  • If you have multiple Google Analytics properties for your blog, this could cause confusion.
  • Stick to one GA4 property and try to link that property alone.

Clear Browser Cache & Cookies

  • Sometimes, browser cache and cookies might cause issues during the linking process. Clear your browser’s cache, and cookies, and try again.

Wait for 24-48 Hours

  • Linking AdSense and Google Analytics may take some time. If you've followed all the steps correctly and still face issues, it may take up to 48 hours for the link to activate.

Review Linking in Google AdSense

In Google AdSense, go to:

  • Account > Access and authorization > Google Analytics integration.
  • Check whether your site is listed and whether it’s linked to the correct Google Analytics property.

Use Google Analytics Debugging Tools For advanced troubleshooting, you can use debugging tools like Google Tag Assistant or the Analytics Debugger extension in Chrome to see if any tracking issues are present.

Final Check

  • Once linked, you should start seeing AdSense data in the Google Analytics reports under the Monetization section within a few hours or days.
