Summary of Surah Al-Bayyinah 98 The Clear Evidence

Summary of Surah Al-Bayyinah 98: The Clear Evidence

Surah Al-Bayyinah is written as a Madinan surah in most copies of the Qur'an. However, Islamic commentators differ on whether it is Makki or Madani. According to a narration from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), it is a Makki surah. Placing it after Surah Al-‘Alaq and Surah Al-Qadr in the compiled order of the Qur'an is very important and meaningful in terms of the Qur'anic structure. Surah Al-‘Alaq contains the first revelation. Surah Al-Qadr explains when the Qur'an was revealed, and this surah clarifies why it was necessary to send a Messenger along with this Qur'an.

Surah Al-Bayyinah (سورة البينة) is the 98th chapter (Surah) of the Qur'an. It consists of 8 verses and addresses the necessity and impact of the coming of a clear message — the Qur'an — and a Messenger to deliver it.

Hadith

Chapter: Obligation of believing that the message of our Prophet Muhammad (saws) is for all people, and the abrogation of all other religions.

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) observed:

By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad, he who amongst the community of Jews or Christians hears about me, but does not affirm his belief in that with which I have been sent and dies in this state (of disbelief), he shall be but one of the denizens of Hell-Fire.
